Corb Lund, recently honoured by the Canadian Country Music Awards with his sixth CCMA for Roots Artist of the Year, plays at the Imperial Theatre on Oct. 19.

I remember when Corb Lund was in a punk band years ago called The Smalls. It seems to be a common thing for young punks to grow up and become ol' style country artists. The same old rebel attitude came from the original punks like Hank Williams et al, making it a traditional outcome as true rebels and outlaws.

Lund has been making huge waves as a truly unique country and roots artist who is following a dusty road all his own. Lund was recently honoured by the Canadian Country Music Awards with his sixth CCMA for Roots Artist of the Year. Lund is also a Juno award winner.

Along with his band, The Hurtin' Albertans, Lund plays traditional country music the way it's supposed to be with cowboy storytelling reminiscent of the times when the cowboys roamed the plains.

The Mike Plume Band will be the opener for Corb Lund when they mosey into town. Plume is originally from Moncton and plays a rollicking and melodic electric/folk sonic stampede.

The show happens Oct. 19, 8 p.m. at the Imperial Theatre. Tickets are $28 and can be purchased online at www.imperialtheatre.nb.ca, by visiting Imperial Theatre Box Office, or by calling 674-4100 (or 1-800-323-SHOW for out-of-town callers).
