Our music and arts scene is as vibrant as ever in the Maritimes. The Imperial Theatre is presenting the Atlantic version of their Voices of Canada series featuring Prince Edward Island’s Nikkie Gallant and Ryan Leblanc from the beautiful seaside town of St. Andrews.

The two rising Maritime stars will offer up an eclectic night of entertainment with Nikkie's seductive folk/pop songs all wrapped up in her sweet-as-honey voice while Leblanc's acrobatic instrumentals - juggling the harmonica, acoustic guitar and claw hammer banjo - will amaze your ears as well as your eyes.

The show takes place Nov. 4, 8 p.m. at the Imperial Theatre and tickets are available now at the theatre box office or by calling 674-4100.

Coming to the popular Vintage Bistro and Lounge in Hampton is Lucas Stagg, former Skydigger and Martin Tielli alumni Paul McLeod with Hometown boy Clinton Charlton on Oct. 17.

If you’re looking for some killer bluegrass, Grass Mountain Hobos, ECMA winners for Bluegrass record of the year, will be tearing up the stage at Vintage on Oct. 18. Indie darlings Said the Whale from Vancouver are playing Vintage Oct. 20 for a not-to-be-missed performance in support of their brilliant new record Islands Disappear. Here is what Rob Slack had to say about the band: “Said The Whale is an indie band without the indie baggage. No irony, no hipster posing. Said The Whale's music is witty and smart and artful and soulful. They are the sound of Vancouver's perpetually grey skies and snow-topped mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge. The sound of being trapped by water on three sides and the Coastal Range on the fourth. The sound of laying on your back in Stanley Park on a warm summer day watching the clouds. The sound of being twenty-something and free and heartbroken.

“Said The Whale is one part Brian Wilson, one part Nick Cave, a dash of the Shins, sprinkled with the Decemberists. Leave out the world of weary woe, shake, pour into your favourite legion glass and enjoy. They're a young band heading out into the world with a sound of their own."

The passionate and compelling artistry of Hannah Georgas is opening the show. What are you waiting for? Pick up the phone and dial 832-1212 to get your tickets now. For more info go to the events portion at www.vintagebistro.com. Let the music play... The Music Man
