Hardcore fans of Rose Cousins waited three years for her new release. But now it’s here and she plays at a release party here on Nov. 5.

That is right… singer/songwriter Rose Cousins is about to release her new record The Send Off. It follows her masterful and beautiful release If You Were For Me from 2006. It's been a little bit of a wait for us hardcore Cousins fans but a wait well worth it.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of hosting shows by Cousins and it's wonderful to see her grow as an artist and, like a good bottle of wine, get even better with time. It’s part of the reason why her legion of fans stays true to her and why she gains new fans wherever she graces a stage.
Cousins made her last visit to the area in the summer (was there a summer this year?) to help celebrate the final weekend of the now-closed Sessions Café. That venue was a crucial stepping stone for her and many other artists over the years.
The Send Off was produced by Luke Doucett who is a killer songwriter and performer in his own right.
Rose, along with supporting act Royal Wood, plays The Blue Olive as part of a special CD release party on Nov. 5, 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue.
Rose is one of a handful of gifted Canadian songwriters to be part of CBC's The Great Canadian Song Quest. Her songs about her home province of P.E.I. could be immortalized in Canadian songwriting history. Go to the site and vote for your favourite songwriter within each part of this beautiful and glorious country we call home. Don't waste any time; go to http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/songquest/index.html and vote now. You’re able to vote once a day so make it a part of your daily rituals before time is up and the winners are announced.
Jay Semko who spends a lot of time here in the valley and Saint John, was chosen by his home province of Saskatchewan. I am loving his Canadian love song Before You Leave Canada. Vote for Jay at the same site. You can hear that song in its entirety by going to www.myspace.com/therealjaysemko.
Listen to CBC Radio 2’s Drive show every day on the way home as they feature the artists regularly as well.
Coming to Vintage Bistro on Oct 23 is Lovestorm, featuring Tim Isaac of Isaac & Blewett fame, along with Nina Khosla. And on Oct 30 Isaac will be back at Vintage, this time with his regular partner Blewett.
On Oct. 24 it's the bluegrass sounds of the all female trio Blue Grass Sass from Saint John.
If you’re a fan of Fred Eaglesmith you will definitely want to check out Gordie Tentrees on Nov 3 at Vintage. For info on all these artists go to the events portion of www.vintagebistro.com. Call 832-1212 to reserve tickets and dinner reservations. Live your life! The Music Man
