Emm Gryner plays in Hampton on Nov. 7 and Saint John on Nov. 8.

Emm Gryner is one of the most prolific and inspiring female singer/songwriters of our time. Gryner has toured as a backup singer for the Thin White Duke, David Bowie as well as touring as a member of the Cardigans. Gryner has celebrity fans such as Nelly Furtado and U2's Bono (in Q Magazine Bono recognized her song Almighty Love as one of six songs he wished he had written himself). Gryner just remade the song and released it as a single with Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott making a guest vocal appearance on the track.
Even with all this going on I seem to be explaining to people who Gryner is and why people should go see her. Find out why Bono and company feel so strongly about her amazing talent. Gryner's live show is simply one of the most inspiring and emotionally uplifting live shows you will ever have the opportunity to witness.
Gryner has a couple dates in this area coming up in support of her new CD, Goddess, on her own Dead Daisy Record label. So take this unique opportunity to see her at least once if not twice. Seeing Gryner in an intimate venue will be wonderfully engaging as well as a spiritual experience of epic proportions. I am not kidding… so if you care about great art, be there.
Gryner plays in Hampton at Vintage Bistro, Nov. 7, 8 p.m., and tickets are $10 and are available now by calling 832-1212. In Saint John Gryner plays at the Blue Olive, Nov 8, 8 p.m., and tickets for that show are $15 and available now by calling 634-3183. Find out more about this Canadian treasure by going to www.emmgryner.com.
My personal favourite record of Gryner's is her collection of Irish songs entitled Songs of Love & Death.
For more entertainment in the area check out www.vintagebistro.com and www.medrestaurant.com. Balladeer and Canadian Pop Icon Dan Hill plays The Blue Olive Nov. 12 and 13. This is a really rare appearance by Hill and one not to be missed by his fans. Jeff sings, "Sometimes when we touch"... Oh sorry about that! At the mere mention of Dan Hill that song automatically comes to mind like dropping a quarter in a jukebox. I can't help but sing. You can hear the real deal Nov. 12 and 13. Love & Emotion, The Music Man xo
